Dyson DC25 – Dyson DC25 Vacuum Ball Cleaner Review

There is an ancient mystical belief that 3 is a magical number because it represents a balance in the order of things. This belief could also ring true with the Dyson DC25 vacuum cleaner, which utilizes 3 of Dyson’s patented technologies: the Dyson Ball, the Root Cyclone, and the Quick-draw Telescope Reach.

Dyson is an appliance manufacturer that is well-known for its vacuum cleaners. What makes their products stand out from the rest is that their vacuums don’t use bags or filters like traditional vacuums. Instead, Dyson vacuums utilize cyclonic separation, wherein dirt and dust are separated from the airflow and collected in a bin attached to the vacuum.

Founder James Dyson came up with this innovation after he become frustrated with the performance of his regular vacuum cleaner in 1979. He noted how fast the vacuum became clogged and its weakening suction, and pinpointed the source of the problem to the layer of dust which clogged the fine material mesh of the vacuum bag.

He drew inspiration from a large industrial cyclone he saw at a local sawmill that removed sawdust particles from the air using cyclonic separation. Upon comparing the dust he collected using the cardboard cyclone he fitted on his vacuum versus the dust picked up by his vacuum bag, he discovered that the former collected more dust—thus the birth of the first ever vacuum cleaner without a bag and filter.

This discovery has been long since dubbed as the Root Cyclone Technology and is a trademark of Dyson vacuums.

Dyson DC25 Animal Vacuum Cleaner Technology

The second prominent feature of Dyson DC25 is the Quick-draw Telescope Reach wand. The wand can reach up to 16 feet when expanded, making it easier for you to clean the stairs, drapery, and other hard-to-reach spots.

The final Dyson technology that’s going to be tackled is the Dyson Ball. This particular technology is geared for improved usability. The typical vacuum cleaner has 2-4 wheels that inhibit the movement of the vacuum cleaner. The wheels of the vacuum cleaner don’t swivel so it can only go forward and backward. With the Dyson Ball, maneuverability is increased because the ball can rotate in all directions. With just a tilt of your wrist, the vacuum can make twists and turns that are impossible to achieve with a regular vacuum cleaner.

The Dyson Ball has another purpose: it also stores the motor of the vacuum. The result of putting the motor inside the ball is twofold because not only does it remove extra weight on the vacuum cleaner, it also lowers the vacuum’s center of gravity, which increases its maneuverability.

The Dyson Ball technology originated from Dyson’s “Ball Barrow”—a wheelbarrow that used a ball instead of a stationary wheel. It is presently another trademark design of Dyson vacuums and can be found on various models.

The Dyson DC25 may initially strike you as a funky vacuum due to its unconventional design, but founder James Dyson had a logical reason behind every off-beat invention he installed on his company’s vacuums. More than 30 years ago, he had a vision to increase the effectiveness of vacuum cleaners - today, he has achieved that and more.

I know how dust can build up and those hard to reach high places can be a LET DOWN, (ha, ha.) But all kidding aside.

These vacuums sounds like the thing for me.

Great information! This is a really good place to get the lowdown on this product and on Dyson in general. I told myself that when I hit the big time, I will get a Dyson because I will be able to afford it :)
